InterPride is governed by an Executive Committee and a Board of Directors with up to three representatives from each of the 20 geographical regions of the world. Member organizations from each region elect their own Regional Directors (please see below). The members of the organization then elect an Executive Committee of ten officers.

Brett Hayhoe - has been on the Board of InterPride for eleven years. Initially as a Regional Director for Region 20 before he was elected in 2010 as Secretary. He has also served as Co-Chair of both our WorldPride and Communications Committees. Brett was elected Co-President in October 2014 and again in 2016. His community work in Melbourne, Australia spans over sixteen years where he has served on the Executive, as Secretary and President for many organisations including PLWHA VIC (People Living with HIV/AIDS Victoria), GALTA (Gay and Lesbian Tourism Australia) and Pride March Victoria. Brett is a Life Member of Pride March Victoria as well as a member of the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, GV Pride (Shepparton), MIDSUMMA Festival (Melbourne & Victoria), OUT Astoria (NYC) and Queens Pride (NYC). Professionally, Brett is the Publisher and Editor of Australian LGBTI Lifestyle Magazine - Q Magazine. He also serves on the Board of the Victorian Gay & Lesbian Rights Lobby (VGLRL).

 

 

 
Linda DeMarco - is the Vice-President of the Board of Directors of Boston Pride. Linda joined Boston Pride in 1998 as a festival coordinator, and brings expertise in business and finance to the Board. She was President of Boston Pride from 2000 to 2013. Professionally, Linda is a successful entrepreneur and has been the owner of Boston Pretzel Bakery Inc. for over 18 years. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Faneuil Hall Merchants Association and the Small Merchants Association of Boston’s Downtown Crossing. Linda was elected as Co-President of InterPride at the 2017 AGM & World Conference in Indianapolis, IN, USA.

 

 

 

 



 

 

Vice President / Operations:

 

Frank Van Dalen - is Vice President of Operations, Male Identified, non-US. He is former chair of the Dutch LGBTI organisation COC Netherlands and Gay Pride in Amsterdam. For many years he has visited, and advocated for, numerous Prides in hostile environments (e.g. Warsaw 2007, Moldova 2008, Belgrade 2010 and Uganda 2013) and in pressured environments (e.g. Hong Kong 2014, Cuba 2014, Sofia 2015 and Belgrade 2015). Frank is now chair of the global operating LGBTI Human Rights workgroup of Liberal International and chair of PrideUnited. PrideUnited specializes in programs based on high profile politics - combining advocacy, visibility and mass events. Human Rights and strategizing LGBTI policies are his speciality. Frank is global representative for Copenhagen Pride.



 


  

 

 

 

Marsha H. Levine - is the Vice President of Operations, Female Identified - US. A 35-year Pride organizing veteran, she has been San Francisco Pride's Parade Manager for the last 15 years, on top of a similar tenure as both a volunteer and occasional Board member for the organization. Prior to that, she was a member of Boston Pride for five years, three of which she served consecutively as President. Marsha has the distinction of being the Founder of InterPride, and a co-founder of CAPI, Inc. (Consolidated Associations of Pride, Inc.). An activist for more than 40 years, she has always been a strong advocate for human and civil rights.

 

 

 

 

J. Andrew Baker - Vice President of Operations, Male Identified - is an educator, administrator, artist, counsellor, and activist from Simcoe County, Ontario. For the past 20 years, Andrew focused his career and volunteer work within Indigenous and LGBT communities. He worked as the Rainbow Health Ontario Community Outreach Worker for the North Simcoe Muskoka Region from 2008 to 2014. He is a founding member of the Simcoe County LGBTQ Network. He is the Vice President of Governance for Fierté Canada Pride, the President of Fierté Simcoe Pride, the LGBT representative on the Simcoe County Suicide Awareness Council, and the faculty advisor for Georgian Pride at Georgian College.

 

 

 

 

 

   

 

Chrissy Taylor - Vice President of Operations, Trans* Identified - is a white, genderqueer, queer, settler and uses they/them pronouns. They originate from Northern Ireland but have been living on Unceded Musqueam, Skwxwú7mesh and Tsiell Wauthuth Territories (Vancouver, BC, Canada) for the past 10 years. Over the past 5 years they have been involved in Vancouver Pride society volunteering as Vice President. They recently finished their second term as Regional Director for Region 7 with InterPride. In Chrissy’s professional life they have worked in non-profits and health research working with sex workers and women and trans folks living with HIV. They are currently pursuing a Masters in Counselling. Chrissy is passionate about hearing peoples’ stories, increasing accessibility, social and health justice, anti-oppressive, anti-racist and anti-colonial practices and believes that these passions are crucial to the international pride community.


 

 

 

 

 

 

Vice President / Member Services:

 

Sherri Rase - is an award-winning activist who has been working with Jersey Pride, Inc. since 1994 as a volunteer, board member and currently Special Events Director. She manages the Rally Stage for Jersey Pride’s Annual Celebration and has been training and facilitating groups in the LGBT Community and at-large for nearly 20 years. Volunteer and professional environments have different needs, but it is possible to discover and develop the leadership skills necessary for positive outcomes. Taking a moment to step back and assess a circumstance can make the differences that provide success.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Secretary:

Ron deHarte - serves as the President of Greater Palm Springs Pride and has been a Pride organizer since 2005. Prior to being elected as Secretary, he served three terms as the InterPride Region 1 Regional Director. He has been actively involved in the LGBT community for nearly sixteen years including currently serving as a commissioner for the City of Palm Springs Human Rights Commission and as a member of the Palm Springs Police Chief’s LGBT Advisory board. He’s been the President of Palm Springs Pride since 2010 and previously served as Executive Director of San Diego Pride. He is the founder and Chair of the Coachella Valley Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast Coalition and served on the inaugural San Diego Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast Committee. He also serves as Secretary on the board of directors of Consolidated Association of Pride (CAPI). Ron was recognized as the 2015 Outstanding Community Service Leader by the Palm Springs Desert Business Association, he served as International Grand Marshal of the Tijuana Pride parade 2007 and as the International Friend of the Year 2012. When he’s not advocating for equal rights, Ron's decades long background in planning, operations, management and large-scale event production is put to good use. He’s a father of two boys and lives with his partner of eighteen years.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Treasurer:

Dave Wait - Dave began his involvement with the pride movement in 2004 when he first volunteered for a ‘shift’ at Motor City Pride.  That led to serving as Chairperson of the festival since 2009.  He began his involvement with InterPride in 2008 and became co-chair of the Conference Integrity and Structure Committee in 2014 and regional director in 2015.  In additional to Motor City Pride, Dave served eight years on the board for Equality Michigan:  Michigan’s statewide LGBTQ advocacy organization, one year as treasurer, one as vice president and three as president.  On a national level, for the past eleven years, he has been a member of the National LGBT Task Force Creating Change Conference’s Management Team. When not volunteering, Dave is employed by Eastern Michigan University where he serves as the Executive Director of three career and technical student organizations: DECA, SkillsUSA and FCCLA, which annually provides leadership and career development conferences for over 14,000 Michigan high school students.

The term "Regional Director" does not mean that the person elected or appointed to the position is to lead and ‘direct’ the organizations in the region. The person in the position serves the organizations in the region and InterPride. InterPride’s Regional Directors have two basic functions:

1. to be a representative of InterPride within their geographic region as defined by InterPride, and

2. to represent their geographical region on the InterPride Board of Directors.
